<div dir="ltr">ChemEs,<div><br></div><div>TL;DR - If you&#39;re interested in working on the Chem-E-Car, please respond to this email with the times you&#39;re available (please give me at least 4-6 hours/week). I&#39;d prefer to have them by Monday.</div><div><br></div><div>For those who don&#39;t know, AIChE&#39;s Chem-E-Car project is an annual competition engaging college students in designing and constructing a car powered by a chemical energy source, which will safely carry a specified load over a given distance and stop. It&#39;s an exercise in process design and control, and it&#39;s a good way to get a feel for some of the concerns chemical engineers face in the industry.</div><div><br></div><div>The Fall team made good progress on an alkaline-battery powered design, but most of the physical construction is still ahead of us. We could really use some help putting it together and testing it.</div><div><br></div><div>Time commitment is between <u>4-6 hours/week</u>, depending on what we can get done. This year&#39;s car will compete at the Regional Conference at the University of Maryland <u>April 11th</u>. We would HUGELY appreciate if you were able to see the project through until then. We&#39;ll start working on it as soon as I get enough responses (so REPLY please). I&#39;ll choose meeting times that give maximum attendance.<br></div><div><br></div><div>There are quite a few non-technical roles available if you haven&#39;t taken many chemE classes yet (freshmen, sophomores). We need at least:</div><div><ul><li>One person on Materials Acquisition (orders supplies, keeps track of inventory)</li><li>One Safety/Regulation Officer to make absolutely sure we&#39;re in line with AIChE rules</li><li>General lab and machining help </li><li>As many motivated troubleshooters as we can get</li></ul></div><div>To those of you who dropped the project in the Fall, it&#39;d be great to see you guys come back. We miss you.</div><div><br></div><div>If you have any interest in or questions about the project, send me an email.</div><div><br></div><div>Let&#39;s beat NJIT,</div><div><br></div><div>Alan Rempel</div></div>
