Dear Choir!

Below is a list of the choruses we are doing for the MESSIAH Sing. The
Sing is very specifically a Sing-ALONG - please invite family and
friends and stress that we'd like them to sing with us.

My original plan was to let go of the three choruses you see listed
together (Surely, And with, & All we like sheep) given our brief
rehearsal time, but I encountered mutiny on Monday when I tried. :-)
Therefore, I've put them back in. They are a linked trio.

There will be several solo arias interspersed throughout, featuring very
fine singers.

Quick note to upper women's voices (which includes any altos who can
sing comfortably up through at least F#) - be sure to take a look at the
note on "Glory to God," below.

MIDIS FOR ALL CHORUSES AND PARTS CAN BE FOUND AT:

http://www.cyberbass.com/Major_Works/Handel_GF/Handel_Messiah.htm
(fyi - "tutti" means "all", as in all parts together)

A full, very good recording of MESSIAH on YouTube, with The Choir King's
College (Cambridge) is at:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZTZRtRFkvk

This is a very handy resource, as you can choose which number to listen
to.

OUR CHORUSES:

Chorus: And the glory of the Lord (Schirmer p. 16; Novello p. 11)
(Novello is another much-used edition of the MESSIAH score, and may be
brought by some who attend the Sing)

Chorus: And he shall purify (Schirmer p. 36; Novello pm 35)

Chorus: For unto us a Child is born (Schirmer p. 66; Novello p. 55)

Chorus: Glory to God (Schirmer p. 82; Novello p. 68)
Preceding three recitatives for soprano, which lead directly into the
chorus: Rachel Watson & TBA. If interested, go to the link in blue
above, and select Scene 4, #14a. If you remain interested after that,
WRITE TO ME ASAP. Thank you!

Chorus: Behold the Lamb of God (Schirmer p. 104; Novello p. 106)

Chorus: Surely He hath borne… (Schirmer p. 113; Novello p. 98)
Chorus: And with His stripes (Schirmer p.117; Novello p. 102)
Chorus: All we like sheep (Schirmer p. 122; Novello p. 106)

Recitative: All they that see Him (recitative) - Justin Kilpatrick,
tenor
(Schirmer p. 131; Novello p. 114) - leads straight into:
Chorus: He trusted in God
(Schirmer p. 132; Novello p. 115)

Chorus: Since by man came death
(Schirmer p. 193; Novello p. 171)

Chorus: Hallelujah
(Schirmer p. 193; Novello p. 171)

Hope you all had a grand Turkey Day!

Cheers,
BR
