Here is some information from Dr. Bethany Reeves regarding some great summer theater opportunities.

DeBaun Summer Acting Workshop
This is a no-credit, no fee acting workshop, starting Wednesday May 31 and concluding with class scene/monologue presentations on Wednesday July 5. No experience necessary. Meetings are Mondays and Wednesdays, 7-9:45pm, at DeBaun Auditorium.

What we do:

  * Some voice and enunciation work
  * Acting: various exercises to heighten responsiveness and concentration, script analysis for beats and objectives/actions
     * Scenework: everyone is assigned a scene (or monologue, if preferred) from a play.
        * Scenework assumes a willingness to spend some time working with a partner outside class, and to obtain a copy of and read the assigned play.
     * Most of the summer's dramatic material is from "modern drama" - that is, no plays earlier than those by Henrik Ibsen, late 1800s. Exceptions are sometimes made.
  * On Wednesday July 5, class members may invite guests for scene/monologue presentations. Participating in this evening is not required, though those who can't or prefer not to do so need to either work on a monologue or pair up with someone who is not able/inclined to present a scene either.
Please alert Dr. Bethany Reeves (breeves at stevens.edu) at your earliest convenience if you are interested in the Acting Workshop (that's the official way to sign up or request more information. Be sure not to hit reply to this email. Thank you).

DeBaun Summer Theatre Production: Paula Vogel's Pulitzer Prize-winning play How I Learned to Drive, featuring alumni Julia Cahn and Ben LaGue in the leading roles, with Cam Clifford, Samantha Weckesser, and Gianna Callegari rounding out the ensemble. Performances are Friday July 14 at 8pm, and Saturday July 15 at 2pm and 8pm. Contact me if you're interested in getting involved.

Thank you to everyone who made this semester and year amazing!
