As 2023 comes to a close, I want to ask all of you a question: what's your new year's resolution? To learn a new skill, to live a healthier lifestyle, to complete your game backlog, which we both know isn't gonna happen? No matter what your resolution is, it'll take effort and determination to complete, and it'll feel great when you achieve the goal you've set. But why limit these feelings to just a resolution? Why not start the year by finishing something, or start by getting further along? Well, why not? I think I know how we can start 2024 with a bang, and all it takes is a little game development...

That's right, our annual WINTER JAM is back! Open from now until SGDC meets again, the winter jam is an excellent way to start, continue, or finish any project! There are no prizes to be won, but we'll be showcasing all the submissions when we go back in January, so everyone is encouraged to enter! This time around, our theme is Work In Progress. As there's no prize besides recognition, following the theme is entirely optional, but it's never a bad idea if you don't know where to start! Good luck to all, and happy (almost) new year!
(And this is a side note, but if you're following the theme, don't submit intentionally unfinished games because they fit the theme! Unfinished projects can still be submitted - not everyone will be able to make what they want in time - but don't make it your goal to submit something half-baked, without any creative intent. This is the reason we didn't pick this as the Game Jam W theme so I just wanted to clarify this now alright alright)
