[srcit_announce] SRCIT downtime - Thurs June 23

The SRCIT System will be undergoing maintenance on Thursday June 23rd, 2011.

In order to assist this maintenance, we are scheduling downtime for the hours of
11am until 5pm on the above date.

During this time the following services will be unavailable:
    * SSH to all SRCIT hosts, including linux-lab
    * SVN repos
    * Personal Websites
    * Matlab and Mathematica
    * Tesla Computation Server
    * Caffeine Chemistry Computation Server
    * trac
    * mail to and from the 'srcit-experimental-mail' domain
    * password changes
    * logins to any SRCIT client desktops

At the start of the downtime, all client machines will be rebooted and user
logins will be disabled until the end of the maintenance procedure. We thus
recommend that you log off the SRCIT system in advance of downtime
commencement so as to avoid any confusion and possible loss of your data.


This downtime was scheduled to
    * continue setting up Fail Over servers for user data
    * test initial setup of expanded storage capacity for user data
    * needed steps to increase reliability and redundancy of authentication
      services
    * test proposed measures that will lead to greater security for all services
      we offer to our user community
