Hi Everyone!

So as of now we have 10 volunteers for the Girls Scout event. The CIESE
department here at Stevens asked if I could send out one more email to try
and recruit 5 more female volunteers.

In case you are not sure what the Girl Scout day is, this is the add that
was sent out in the SLN:

Call for Female Engineering Students to Volunteer

On September 29th, (9am-3pm) Stevens Institute and CIESE (Center for
Innovation in Engineering and Science Education) will welcome 300 Girl
Scouts to campus for a day engineering. The goal is to catalyze girls'
interest and achievement in science and engineering and foster career
awareness in engineering fields. Throughout the day, the Girl Scouts will
be engaged in hands-on engineering activities. An opening keynote address
will be given by a prominent female engineer and a panel discussion
comprised of female engineering students will follow lunch.

We are asking for female engineering students to either assist us during the
hands-on activities or to sit on the discussion panel. Those students who
wish to assist with the activities must also be available to attend a
training session (9am-3pm) on Sept 15th.

If you are interested in volunteering for this worthwhile and exciting event
and igniting a young girl's interest in engineering and science, please
contact Barbara Mammen, CIESE, at bmammen at stevens.edu or 201-216-8046.

So if you can volunteer, please let me know and I can add you to the list of
SWE volunteers. I also want to update everyone that if you cannot make the
training day, that is alright, alternate plans can be made.

Also thanks to all of those who have already volunteered! Hope to see
everyone at the meeting tomorrow!

Best,

Maggie
