Hi ladies!

The deadline to register for the Google Games is now next Wednesday
instead of next Friday! There are only a few spots still open on SWE's
team. Below are the three emails from Amy Lynam, the University
Specialist for Stevens, that contains all the information about the
competition. If you're interested please let me or Aleks
(apetelsk at steves.edu) know!

Hi SWE Students,

Google Games NYC is fast approaching! To give you more time, we have
extended the deadline date. The date to register a team is now APRIL
8TH.

So spread the word, invite your friends and get ready for an 'out of
this world' day! Invite is below but let me know if you have any
questions!

Amy

------------

Houston, we have liftoff.

The Google Games NYC is open for registration.

Think you got game? Compete against other students from NYU, Rutgers,
Stony Brook, New York Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of
Technology and the College of New Jersey for victory in challenges that
test your brains and creativity to the max at The Google Games NYC!
It’s a black hole of fun when teams of five go head to head in
rigorous events: trivia, building challenge, puzzles, word association,
and coding competitions. If you haven’t caught on just yet, this
year’s theme is “Out of this World” so make sure to throw on your
best space suit, astronaut helmet or alien gear and get ready for a
total otherworldly time!

Find four friends (Computer Science background strongly recommended),
pick a team name and register here [2]. In addition to the thrill of
victory and the agony of defeat, Google will also be supplying food and
refreshments to all participants and stellar prizes to our top
competitors. Bring it on!

The Google Games NYC

Date: April 18th

Time: 10:00am to approximately 4:00pm

Location: Google NYC Office (76 Ninth Avenue, 4th Floor, New York, NY
10011)

Registration Form [2]

Don’t get lost in space! Remember to officially register by April 8th.

FAQ

Q. Can we have fewer than five members on our team?

A. We strongly recommend having the maximum number of members – any
less and you'll lose your competitive edge.

Q. Do you have to be a current student to participate?

A. Yes, you must be currently enrolled at NYU, Rutgers, Stony Brook, New
York Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology or the
College of New Jersey.

Q. Can we replace a member before the start of the event?

A. Sure. Just let us know via googlegames at google.com. Be sure to include
the full name and email of the new team member as well as the full name
of who is being replaced, your school and team name.

Q. Should our team wear costumes?

A. Show your team's spirit however you choose: costumes, uniforms, team
dance, team flag or poster, cheer, fight song, etc. A prize will be
awarded to the team with the most spirit.

Q. Will transportation be provided?

A. If your university is located more than 10 miles away from Google
NYC, we will provide transportation reimbursement.

Q. Will food be provided?

A. We will be providing lunch, snacks and drinks. If you have any
dietary restrictions, please note this in the form and we will be sure
to accommodate you.

Q. When will our team receive a confirmation about the Games?

A. After the registration deadline, we will reach out to teams with more
details. Not all registered teams will be selected due to space
limitations.

Q. Do I need to bring my own laptop?

A. Although it’s not mandatory, it will give your team a competitive
advantage to have all members work from their own laptop in the
challenges. If you don’t have your own, see if you can borrow one from
a friend.
