Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all enjoying your Winter Breaks!  Please find attached an
exciting K-12 volunteer opportunity later this month.  STEM-a-thon is an
event sponsored by Stevens for Hoboken's 8th grade students to encourage
them to explore STEM, similar to SWE's K-12 events.  Please see below for
dates, time commitment, and sign up sheet.

Dear Students,



*STEM-a-thon: Discovery, Innovation & Success for Hoboken’s 8th Grade
Students, *a collaboration between Stevens Institute of Technology and the
Hoboken Family Alliance is seeking *25* volunteers. At STEM-a-thon, 8th
grade students across Hoboken schools will discover how to innovate through
various hands-on, team-based STEM activities, take advantage of their high
school years to position themselves for success in college, and explore
STEM and other college majors. Volunteers are needed to assist in set-up
and clean-up STEM activities, mentoring ~200 8th graders through these
activities, and helping them test the performance of their designs!



STEM-a-thon will take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 9 am – 2pm.
In the event of inclement weather, a snow date is scheduled for Friday,
January 26, 2018 from 9am – 2pm.  Lunch will be provided.



*Volunteers are asked to make the following commitment:*

·        Tuesday, January 23: Volunteer Orientation from 3:30 – 5:00

·        Wednesday, January 24 (or Friday, January 26 if snow): STEM-a-thon
set-up, event, and clean-up from 8 am – 1:30 pm



Volunteers are asked to wear Stevens apparel. Please feel free to share
this information with any interested Stevens students and organizations.
