ChemEs,

First, great attendance at this meeting. We ran out of pizza, which I
believe is a first. We'll get more next time.

Secondly, we're looking to increase participation and involvement this
semester. We have a Facebook group
<https://www.facebook.com/groups/stevensaiche/> - join it, add your chem-e
friends, ask for help/textbooks/advice/anything. Take pictures at the
events you went to and put them there. Find ancient pictures of professors
and put them there. Advertise interesting opportunities or events. Take a
selfie, but don't ever post it here.

Thirdly, join our Relay for Life <http://www.relayforlife.org/stevensnj>
team (also on Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/pages/Relay-For-Life-of-Stevens-Institute-of-Technology-2015/1574638276082914>;
like it) and help us sponsor more birthdays ($20 suggested donation). If
you're currently on co-op or have previous relationships with a company,
ask your mentor or supervisor about a corporate donation. They're
tax-deductible, and April is coming.

The Relay also includes an entertainment component. During the Relay, we'll
be running chemical demonstrations and other cool things for last-minute
donations. Contact Nick Gural (ngural at stevens.edu) with suggestions or
interest in helping.

Fourthly, let us know (by replying to this email) whether you're interested
in attending next Wednesday's Societe de Chimie Luncheon (details on the
flier I sent). We will not be able to register anybody for the advertised
CM&E luncheon because I got the date wrong and registration has closed.
Sorry about that.

Fifthly, we're planning to compete in the first-ever Student Video
Competition
<http://www.aiche.org/community/awards/global-undergraduate-student-video-competition>!
Make a short educational video (this year's topic: how an oil refinery
works) for a chance to win the chapter $500! That's enough pizza to have
leftovers. Reply with interest.

Sixthly and sorry for the overlong email, you can get a head-start on
safety training with the FREE SAChE certificate
<http://www.aiche.org/academy/courses/sache/sache-certificate-program> from
AIChE. Looks good on your resume and helps prevent you from accidentally
starting fires or blowing up labs.

As always, we're always open to feedback. Let us know what you want at
aiche at stevens.edu or with a Facebook post. A tentative calendar is on our
website <http://ugstudentlife.stevens.edu/org/aiche/Events>.

TL;DR: Tough beans. Should have come to the GBM.

See you around,

Alan Rempel
