Friends, Romans, Countrymen,

After a wonderful break, which I'm sure everyone enjoyed, this week the
Anime Club will be showing Sora no Woto, or Sound of the Sky. Sora no
Woto is a personal favorite of mine, and I'm sure you'll all enjoy it as
well.

Sora no Woto was aired in January of 2010, as the debut series of TV
Tokyo's 'Power of Anime' project. This project was intended to showcase
original anime series (i.e. not based on a previous work such as a
manga, video game, or light novel), and also aired Night Raid 1931 and
Occult Academy. The setting is a post-apocalyptic world, where after a
great war, technology has regressed to early 20th century capabilities.
The series begins with Private Kanata Sorami's arrival in the town of
Seize, for her assignment as a bugler to the 1121th Platoon based in the
Time Telling Fortress.

While watching the show, please do not dwell on the fact that they are
in a town with Spanish architecture, in a country named after
Switzerland, speaking Japanese while writing in French, and celebrating
a Chinese festival. Instead, dwell on the beautiful backgrounds, or the
music, or the great voice actors, such as Yuu Kobayashi, Eri Kitamura,
and Aoi Yuuki.

Anyways, head on over to Burchard 118 this Friday, March 23rd at 9 PM
for this awesome piece of animation, as well as snacks, pizza,
beverages, and all that.

See you there,

Chris Bowers
