Hello everybody,

There seems to be a new convention starting up. It’s a little far away, but if you’re interested, read below.

Hello,

My name is Lyndsey Bellamy and I am a coordinator with Nijicon(meaning "rainbow convention") which is a weekend-long event(October 18-19th,2014) designed to highlight the increasing and driving presence of the LGBT community in manga and anime as well as comics, books, and television without a Japanese influence. Nijicon will be taking place in King of Prussia, PA(just outside Philadelphia) and will feature special guests, fan-hosted panels, vendors, artists, and screenings of popular LGBT movies, television shows, and anime. There will also be a charity raffle in which all proceeds will be donated to ME4PA(Marriage Equality for PA). All attendees will also be getting a free manga just for attending.

I just wanted to let you know of our event so that you can pass this information on to your members.

We sincerely believe that Nijicon could be the beginning of an event that the anime community would greatly benefit from. No matter what our race, religion, or sexuality we are, all geeks enjoy the awesomeness that is comic books, cartoons, manga, and anime and should have the opportunity to display that love in a safe environment. And while there are other conventions like ours in other parts of the country, Nijicon is the first one to take place in the North Eastern U.S. We believe that this is a major oversight since large cities located in this region—like Philadelphia, New York, Washington D.C., and Boston(just to name a few) proudly host such diverse populations.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, I will be more than happy to answer them. More information and details can be found on our website: http://www.nijicon.com/ or on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Nijicon (more events will be added in the next few weeks)

I thank you sincerely for your time,
Lyndsey
