ldapsearch with -x flag works correctly. It gives me the user information
correctly.

I did obtain a Kerberos ticket by running kinit and confirmed using
klist.

 mmeladat at roybatty:~$ klist
 Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_10560_Tkl1Uk
 Default principal: mmeladat at PHY.STEVENS-TECH.EDU

 Valid starting     Expires            Service principal
 03/11/10 11:26:38  03/11/10 21:26:38
krbtgt/PHY.STEVENS-TECH.EDU at PHY.STEVENS-TECH.EDU
         renew until 03/12/10 11:26:37

 Kerberos 4 ticket cache: /tmp/tkt10560
klist: You have no tickets cached

But still after doing ldapserch I get the same error :-

 mmeladat at roybatty:~$ ldapsearch
 SASL/DIGEST-MD5 authentication started
 Please enter your password:
 ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Invalid credentials (49)

In the password I entered the kerberos ticket password but still it didnt
work.

The LDAP setup on the linux lab requires you to have a Kerberos ticket,
which you obtain by running "kinit" (and providing your regular system
 password).

Some of the details of the linux lab are documented here:
