[cs615asa] format volume

Hi guys,
if I understand correctly when we backup using rsync the volume needs to be
format.
I look at the ec2 commands but I couldn't find any options to give a
file-system to the volume.

I can run fdisk and then mkfs on the remote instance but I couldn't find
'expect' an the linux lab.

Any suggestion ??
