Ironically enough the blue team was going to talk this week about the Sectre and Meltdown as well from the other perspective.

For the blue team this week we are focusing on patching to the BIOS, and firmware after last years Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities. We will talk about the importance of patching outside of the OS such as the firmware and BIOS to keep your systems safe from outside attacks.

Subject: [cs615asa] Red Team Link Week 3

Hello Everyone,

Here is Red Team's article for Week 3:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-cyber-microchips/businesses-cautious-in-installing-patches-to-fix-chip-flaw-idUSKBN1EU12H<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.reuters.com%2Farticle%2Fus-cyber-microchips%2Fbusinesses-cautious-in-installing-patches-to-fix-chip-flaw-idUSKBN1EU12H&data=02%7C01%7Cbbiggs%40stevens.edu%7Cc876d0d1a28941617db308d690429489%7C8d1a69ec03b54345ae21dad112f5fb4f%7C0%7C0%7C636855012983898557&sdata=INCNpBjZ0cnUPlJjbFUMZ1%2BT%2BibBjnePshnqvu2G1Yw%3D&reserved=0>

It discusses how businesses are slow to upgrade their OS (to fix spectre and meltdown) due to fears over performance changes. This of course leaves them open to those attacks.

Thanks,
The Red Team
