HI All: We want to have as much community representation at this event as
possible!

Best,
Brian Tofte-Schumacher
Communications Associate, International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights
Commission (IGLHRC <http://www.iglhrc.org/>)

*PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY (RSVP Required rsvp at iglhrc.org)*
*

Join us at the United Nations Tuesday 12/11 3:15 - 4:45pm to Celebrate LGBT
Human Rights! ** See f**lyer attached.*

This year, we are excited to welcome Secretary General Ban Ki-moon as the
keynote speaker in celebration of International Human Rights Day. Activist
and performer Yvonne Chaka Chaka will speak and perform a song from her new
album! Three LGBT activists, Blas Radi (Argentina), Olena Shevchenko
(Ukraine), and Gift Trapence (Malawi), will discuss their work to advance
LGBT rights. And there will be a video message from the Archbishop Desmund
Tutu.

*What is it?*

Organized annually by IGLHRC, Human Rights Watch, Office of the High
Commissioner for Human Rights, and a range of states (the Core Group)
coordinated by the Netherlands, this event is the one time of year the UN
throws open its doors to welcome states, activists and community members to
engage with leading LGBT human rights defenders and celebrity guest
speakers, bringing to life the reality and urgency of LGBT issues around
the world.

*Who can come?*

All are welcome to attend! This year, the timing of the ILGA Conference
overlaps with this event; we expect many folks who ordinarily would attend
might instead be in Stockholm. Let's use this as an opportunity to broaden
our impact and reach: invite your friends and contacts to have the
opportunity to go to the United Nations and experience this historic event.

*RSVP is required by Monday 12/10 at 9am.*

Please RSVP to rsvp at iglhrc.org with your full name, email address and
organization (if applicable) by Monday, December 10th at 9:00am. *You must
RSVP in order to attend the event because a special ground pass is
required. *This is because of UN security and is a hard and fast deadline
that we have no control over.

*Looking forward to seeing you there!*
