Hello everyone-

I am writing this email in order to recruit you to take part in a summer
research project through the Academic Scholars program, Development of
Strategy and Role Playing Games for Education.

For this project, we are planning to develop a gesture-based game for use
in the classroom and as a study aid for courses. We are planning to develop
a fully viable game environment by the end of the summer session.

Below are the project description and position details.  If you are
interested in working on this project, let me know.

*Project Description:*

Development of games for learning abstract concepts in a classroom
environment is a signifcant objective in developing classroom environments
reflective of the needs of current students.
This exploratory research will develop and test a strategy and/or role
playing game in conjunction with a baseline library of natural gestures
suitable for STEAM classroom settings, with the objective of exploring the
impact of students’ multisensory engagement on improving learning outcomes.
To accomplish this objective, the research will to use the natural
gesture-based learning platform in actual classroom settings to gain a
deeper understanding of the efficacy of gestural communication, the
interlinked nature of gestural communication and visual thinking, and its
broader potential in the context of multimedia learning theory and
cognitive load.

*Positions:*

Student #1: Developer/Programmer

Knowledge of C++ and/or Python, with an interest in gaming and gaming
platforms.



Student #2: User Interface Designer

Some experience with jQuery, Javascript, CoffeeScript, and/or Python
required.

Knowledge of design principles, prototyping, and user testing preferred.



Student #3: Game Engine Developer

Working knowledge of the Unity game engine and experience with depth sensor
cameras including Kinect and/or Panasonic D-Imager required.



Student #4: System Testing

Detailed-oriented person with experience in interface design and
programming desired.



Student #5: Game Music Researcher

Experience with music composition and interest in researching best
practices in development of music for gaming applications required.



Student #6: 3D Artist

Experience and interest in game play and user experience design preferred.
