I got this from a colleague. ...

Did you know that...
There are currently no standards set for developers building software
applications as free and open source. Traditionally standards have been
applied for very few things in the area of software. Developers have
been left to their own way of doing things... Now, with the IEEE.org, we
have a HUGE opportunity to add our voices in not only setting standards,
but in areas like documentation,  workshops/webinars and tutorials where
we can apply language justice and design justice to prevent
racist/sexist algorithms and racist/sexist language being published in
actual code and in documentation as well as other places it pops up!!

A newly formed project with IEEE.org is starting the process to set
standards for free and open source software. Technical folks and Organic
people are necessary and their voices are valued! Please go to the link
below to join this project and contribute as much or as little as you
are able to. Please also share this with your friends and networks. Once
you sign up, you will get an invitation to the spaces we use to
communicate and our online meetings which happen 2x per month. We are
just getting started, so it is a great time to engage - note: there is
no obligation, and you are welcome to attend a meeting and just listen.
