Dear Maintainers' community,

We are reaching out to you with an urgent appeal to our network.

After ten years of bringing academics and practitioners together to learn,
grow, and elevate the profile of maintenance in our physical and digital
worlds, we find ourselves with dwindling funds and some difficult decisions
to make. If we don’t confirm funds by December 15, 2024, then our team will
begin the process of sunsetting our virtual events and future fellowship
programs, and commence the process of digital asset preservation with a
plan to halt all staffed operations in July 2025.

If this group and the work that we do is meaningful to you, we ask you to
please consider one of the following fiscally supportive actions for The
Maintainers:

   1.

Connect us with foundations or other grant-making institutions.
   2.

Make individual contributions via our Substack newsletter
   <https://themaintainers.substack.com/>.
   3.

Connect us with industry partners who would be able to provide
   sponsorship.

We are hoping to raise $80,000 USD so that we can continue throughout 2025,
including resourcing our operations, our steering committee, virtual
programs, events, and the fees of our digital platforms. This will allow
for a transition from a fully staffed model to one that is sustained by
distributed community-based leadership. If you would like to review a
breakdown of our current project costs, please reference our Narrative of
Change Chapter 2 <https://themaintainers.org/narrative-of-change-chapter-2/>
under the “Future Directions” section.

Our wish is to continue to be an advocate for your maintenance, repair,
and care projects, and we believe we can do it with your help.

Thank you for being part of this community!
