Caves are among our planet’s most pristine and fragile ecosystems. We are

delicate, hands-on work of speleothem repair, but also for championing
public awareness about collective maintenance for our submerged natural
heritage.

Through her Fellowship, Ana built capacity for cave conservation in
México’s Yucatán Peninsula, where beautiful cenotes, caverns, and caves
face growing pressure from tourism and development. Read her blog post for
more about her process, and the cool specialized cave repair tools she used
(ever heard of a Speleoclamp?). We often think of maintenance as something
we do for our human built-world, but practitioners like Ana, show us that
our natural environments need care and repair too.
