thanks to a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, WCPR's lounge now has the
benefit of a working television, complete with access to the cable channels
the dorms get. feel free to use it if you are waiting for a show before you
to sign off, or just to hang out during some free time.
reminders for the general body:
1) Battle of the Bands will be Thursday, November 17th, at 7:30 PM.
Stay tuned to emails about what time we will meet at the station to get
equipment to set up (probably at 5, based on past experience, but that is a
tentative time). Any help is greatly appreciated.
2) We will be doing another movie night on Friday, November 18th at
9:30 PM. "Full Metal Jacket" will be the first movie this time around, with
"Team America: World Police" probably as our second movie. Once again, let
me know by Friday if you're coming so we can set up the lounge to
accommodate the right amount of people, and get a sufficient amount of food.

some updates for you guys:
1) This Wednesday (TOMORROW), we will be DJing the Bowling Club's Red
Pin Bowling Tournament in the bowling alley. it goes from 9 to 12; there
will be food and prizes. it's open to anyone on campus. Me, Chris Jennings,
Ray, and others will be there, but anyone is welcome to come. since it will
overlap with the WCPR meeting, it's not mandatory to be at the bowling
alley; Paul will decide whether or not we even have a meeting. if not,
expect an email concerning...
2) this Thursday - Battle of the Bands. we will probably meet at the
station around 5:30 at the latest to set up. Send an email to
eboard@wcpr.org if you will be able to help set up and/or tear down (it will
probably end at midnight - for you freshmen, remember that you can register
for classes at midnight, so we understand if you can't stay to tear down if
it gets that late). as I said earlier, stay tuned for an email from Paul
with more details.
3) Movie Night will be moved, tentatively, to Saturday; we will still
be showing "Full Metal Jacket". Once again, let me know ahead of time if
you're coming so we can set up the lounge properly and order enough food.

All:
WCPR Bowling Night went quite well. The turnout, although not as big as
expected, was still impressive. There was a good amount of crossover appeal:
people who didn't know much about the Bowling Club got to meet their
members, while people who didn't know much WCPR got to meet some of our
membership. A combination of awesome prizes, tons of pizza and soda, and
great music really got people into it and showed them that WCPR does do cool
stuff for the community.
Perhaps most importantly, DRAGONFORCE \mm/ reigned supreme.but would you
expect anything less?

This morning during the morning show Mike, Paul and I were casually
talking some business and came up with some ideas and a list of things
that need to be done. So in lieu of a meeting, here we go:
First we were thinking of having two events next semester, one of which
we'd like to start planning now, so please think about if you'd be
interested in helping out w/ that during December.
Also, we've got our sponsors for the semester squared away and will be
needing to record ad spots and other various sound clips for the radio,
perhaps including some introductory spots for the music blocks. If
you'd be interested in helping out with that, it's probably a good idea
to email mike, or just the whole eboard. Whatever.
Finally, another schpeil about the website. I know I've got mike on my
side, and he totally rules. But perhaps a little more manpower for the
time being would be cool since what needs to be done is a lot of
content. We need articles to be written on recent events (bowling,
Battle of the Bands, duck after dark) in addition to updates for the
news page including a summary of the past work weekend and any new
developments going on around the station. If you'd be interested...you
really dont even have to tell me...just write something up, send it to
me and i'll proof it.
As I said before, i'd like to get a picture up for each of the radio
shows but unfortunately have lost my camera, so if you can get someone
to take a shot and send it in, tha'd be great.
