Our Lady of Grace Church in Hoboken will host a special evening of
great music on Friday, May 2, 2008, featuring the artistically
acclaimed New York City Master Chorale that will perform Faure’s
Requiem, his most renowned and sublime masterpiece as well as motets by
French composer Maurice Durufle. The performance is co-sponsored by
Hoboken ’s chapter of Pax Christi USA, an international organization
founded in France following the aftermath of World War II that is
committed to peace education. This new Pax Christi USA chapter, based
at Our Lady of Grace in Hoboken, works toward a more peaceful, just and
sustainable world.

“We are thrilled that the acclaimed and uplifting New York City Master
Chorale accepted our invitation to perform at this special evening of
community outreach and peace. The theme of Our Lady of Grace’s musical
program for 2008 has been peace and reconciliation between all peoples,
religions and nations,” said Andrew Cyr, Music Director for Our Lady of
Grace Church. “The performance of choral music represents a powerful
living symbol, scores of people coming together and uniting for one
artistic purpose, expressing a universal language whose goal is to
transcend all boundaries.”

“Our Lady of Grace Church is committed to serving the entire community,
not just our parishioners,” said Fr. Alex Santora, Pastor, Our Lady of
Grace. “We are constantly looking for new ways to reach out to the
community. We feel that celebrations of music and the arts are a great
way to bring people together because they help to express the infinite
beauty of God in works made by human hands.”

“We are very excited about our appearance in Hoboken ,” said Thea Kano,
Artistic Director, New York City Master Chorale. “Our 80-voice chorale,
which is made up of musicians from the greater New York City area,
seeks to broaden public interest in fine choral music by performing a
full range of musical styles at the highest level of quality.” Founded
in 2005, the Chorale also educates the public through a regular program
of outreach concerts and workshops for groups that might not otherwise
have the opportunity to learn about and experience choral music.

Our Lady of Grace Church is Hoboken’s most historic and stunning church
and performance space, featuring Gothic-style architecture and perfect
acoustics. The sanctuary seats over 1,000 people and is conveniently
located in the center of Hoboken - the perfect spot to unite the
greater metropolitan community to celebrate peace and transcendent
music together.
