? TAP and DeBaun PAC holding auditions for CHESS

This season Theta Alpha Phi and DeBaun Performing Arts Center are teaming up to produce another Fall musical. For the past 3 years, they have produced "Tom Foolery", "Smokey Joe's Cafe", and "The World Goes Round", including Stevens alumni, students and staff in the cast and crew.

This year they have chosen the cult musical CHESS, produced in London and on Broadway in the 80's. It's the story of an international chess match between an American and a Russian, at the height of the cold war, and the woman that they both love. "One Night in Bangkok" is from the show, which became a Top 40 hit in the 80's. It's a rock opera, with a lot of choral music that is fun and challenging. The show is once again directed by David Zimmerman and choreographed by Kathy Imperial. The musical director is Meg Zervoulis, who (in addition to other credits) is the rehearsal and performance pianist at Papermill Playhouse.

The lead roles have already been cast, but auditions are being held for ensemble roles. The ensemble does not have to dance but will be on stage for the entire show, using sheet music (little to no memorization necessary). The ensemble will play a number of smaller parts in the show and some will have solos. Experience with choral singing is preferred. Rehearsals will be held on weeknights and either Sat/Sun on weekends, with the majority of rehearsals starting in September. Ensemble will not need to be at all rehearsals.
