[SDS] Stage Combat Workshop Information

Hey everyone!

At GBM 1, we announced that we will be hosting a *Stage Combat
Workshop *on *Sunday,
September 22 from 1-5pm in DeBaun Auditorium*. Here's what you need to know:

*How can I participate?*
The signup form will be going live on the *SDS DuckLink page*

 *TODAY at 12:00pm!* For safety purposes, this workshop is limited to the
first 20 signups, so if you'd like to participate, be ready to sign up when
the form opens!

*What is Stage Combat? *
Stage combat is "a broad term that covers acts of conflict, danger and/or
violence performed for entertainment. A slap to the face, a fall down some
stairs, an epic fifteen-person battle with swords and axes - all of these
are stage combat. More than just set moves, true stage combat uses violence
to tell a story, just as dance choreography, set design, or costuming can."

*What can I expect from this workshop?*
This workshop will focus on *hand-to-hand combat* (no swords or weapons),
and it will be led by professional fight director Michael Jerome Johnson.

*I got a spot in the workshop! How should I prepare?*
Please *dress in comfortable clothing* and *wear sneakers*. Bring water
with you, too.

*I didn't get a spot in the workshop. Can I still come?*
Of course! Anyone is welcome to attend the workshop and observe.

*I can't make it to the workshop at 1pm, but I can come later. Can I still
participate?*
Unfortunately, no. Michael will be starting the workshop with important
safety information, so if you miss that, you won't be permitted to
participate. You can still come to observe!
