All SRCIT Users,

The SRCIT System will experience a temporary reduction in service level on
Tuesday, September 27th at 10:00AM until 11:30AM.

Users will experience temporary delays in accessing SRCIT hosts and services.
The expected delay time has an expected upper bound of 1 minute (60 seconds.)

At the start of this period client machines may experience delays when
authenticating, listing, mounting or using SRCIT filesystems as well as when
accessing SVN data or personal websites that are hosted via the SRCIT system.

Mathematica and Matlab will also be affected as they both rely on a network
connection to authenticate the software with the license server.

This interruption was scheduled to
    * upgrade the networking infrastructure that supports the SRCIT systems

We don't anticipate a high risk to users' data that could be caused by our users
coninuing to using the system as usual during this period, however you may
experience noticeable delays and, as such, certain network connections may
time out and / or be broken. Theoretically, this could lead to operations on
files that are served over the network to be lost, or the acknowledgement of
operations on network-based files to be lost causing some reads and writes to
occur more than once or not at all.

Thus, if you are working on something that is absolutely critical, such as
Data Collection if you are a Physics Researcher, we suggest that you suspend
your calculations from 10:00AM tomorrow and resume after 11:30AM the same day.
