[Themaintainers] New report: Dealership consolidation is reducing repair choices for farmers

Hi Maintainers.

I wanted to share our new report on Agricultural Right to Repair, Deere in
the Headlights II <https://uspirg.org/feature/usp/deere-headlights-ii>.

The report goes deep on Ag Right to Repair and dealership consolidation.
The report shows three basic things: 1) modern tractors are made so that
farmers have to turn to the dealer for certain repairs, 2)
dealership consolidation is further eroding farmers’ repair choices, and
3) Right to Repair would go a long way to solving these issues.

To do this, we analyzed dealerships from four top tractor manufacturers.
John Deere is by far the most consolidated: 82% of their dealerships belong
to a large chain of 7 or more dealerships. That means there is one chain
for every 5.3 million acres of American farmland, or one chain for every
12,018 American farms. It shows just how little choice farmers have.
