[cs631apue] Welcome to CS631, Fall 2016

Canvas is going to make everyone's lives a lot easier. Canvas makes an
estimated calculation of your grades each time an assignment is graded, and
also lets you try out "what if" grades to see what you need to get for a
certain grade. Not only that but it puts all of your grades in one place so
that you can see how you're doing in all of your classes on one screen. It
also has an app with widgets that live update so that I can look at my
grades at a glance on my phone.

You sending out grades in emails is going to be a pain, because not only
will I have to go to a different location to see my grades for your class,
but I also have to make up the final grade calculations myself, which I
don't really have the time or desire to do. Even the last Unix class I took
also had all the assignments done and graded over Linux lab, but that
professor still found the time to post the grades on Canvas as well.

So why exactly aren't you using Canvas?

How you keep track of your grades is up to you.

Patrick and I will send out grades per email to each individual student.

The final grade is calculated as outlined on the course website:
