Not really, but just a "thanks" for this thoughtful input and for the
"Refactoring to patterns" reference, which I didn't know.

At the end of the day, maybe we just need to regularily revisit the
Unix motto: "Do one thing and do it well" -- which, by the way, does
*not* say that the tool has to be small.  In a sense, frameworks are
also doing "one thing well", which is to provide a battle-tested
generic solution for a set of problems.
